TARNEIT advocate Andrew Elsbury will contest the Western Metropolitan Region seat after being preselected as the Liberal candidate.
Mr Elsbury will join Liberal MP Bernie Finn as a running mate at the State election.
Presently, he is a staff member for Senator Michael Ronaldson and is also active in the Tarneit North Residents’ Association.
“I love this part of town and I will always fight for the implementation of improvements when needed, rather than when it becomes a crisis,” he said. “I want a better deal for Melbourne’s West. I want to get the services and infrastructure needed to ensure families are growing in a prosperous community. We have problems with public transport, roads and the police force and they all need to be fixed.”
The upcoming State election will be the first he has contested.
“I can guarantee every candidate under the Liberal banner in the West will work hard to address the issues which affect our communities,” Mr Elsbury said. He also said the Altona by-election was a wake up call to the State Government.
The Liberal Party claimed a 12 per cent swing following the February result.
Voters go to the polls on 27 November.
