Rally issue raised

LAST week's rally against inappropriate development in Moonee Ponds has been raised in State Parliament.

Western Metropolitan MP Bernie Finn, who attended the rally, said Moonee Valley residents did not want the municipality to turn into a "concrete canyon".

Mr Finn joined opposition planning spokesman Matthew Guy and Moonee Valley councillors and Essendon state seat hopefuls Paul Giuliano and Rose Iser at the rally.

About 100 residents attended it.

In Parliament, Mr Finn said a "goodly crowd of people came to take a stand to protect the character of Puckle Street, Buckley Street, Keilor Road and Mount Alexander Road and so many other parts of the local area".

"The people of Essendon know they have the future of their neighbourhoods in their own hands.

"They feel a sense of duty and will be putting that into action when they vote in November."
